Mango lassi

Mango lassi

  • 1 c. mango; diced, fresh or frozen
  • 1 c. yogurt
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. ground cardamom
  • pinch of turmeric
  • 1/2 c. water (optional)

Use a blender to combine mango, yogurt, milk, cardamom, and turmeric. Use the water to thin to desired consistency.

Watermelon Limeade

Watermelon Limeade (adapted from allrecipes.com “Watermelon Cooler Slushy”)

  • 4 c. seedless watermelon
  • 1/3 c. lime juice, freshly squeezed (~3 limes)
  • 1 tsp. raw honey
  • 1/8 tsp. sea salt
  • 10 ice cubes

Put ingredients in blender and puree until smooth.

Chai tea

Chai tea (from Feeding the Whole Family)

  • 4 c. water
  • 10 whole cloves
  • 12 whole cardamom pods
  • 12 whole black peppercorns
  • 1 to 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 Tbs. ginger, grated
  • 1 c. milk
  • honey to taste

Bring the water, spices, and ginger to a boil in a saucepan.  Cover and simmer on low heat for 30 to 45 min.  Add milk, bring to a boil again, then turn off heat.  Strain into a cup and add honey to taste.
